Day 1 - Joshua Tree National Park Ride (65
miles)
Day 1 started off in Mecca. For those of you unfamiliar with this area
it's probably for good reason (it's in the middle of nowhere). Kevin
Shrive used his GPS and was sent to the wrong locaiton which delayed his
arrival. This in turn allowed Kevin to wear the "Rocketeer" jersey the
following day. Keven was a great sport and wore the jersey with pride.
Day 1 proved to be more difficult than expected. We started off with a
gradual incline that only grew steeper as the ride contunued. There
were spectacular views, great camaraderie and very little traffic.
Total ride was 70 miles with 4000 feet of climbing in the first 30 miles.
